Your steps keep them alive.
FinSteps is a step counter with something at stake. Hit your daily goal and the tank runs clear, your fish gain hearts, and pearls pile up. Skip it, and the water clouds over. The fish notice.
Reads only your step count from Apple Health. Your steps never leave your iPhone.

The loop
Walk. Feed. Grow. Repeat.
No workouts to log, no numbers to type. FinSteps reads the step count your iPhone is already keeping and turns it into the only currency your aquarium accepts.
-
Set a goal and go
Start at 8,000 steps a day, or set anything from 1,000 to 100,000. Your progress ring fills live as you walk — no check-in required.
-
Cross the line, get paid
Ten pearls the moment you hit your goal — doubled for your first week. Walk past it and overnight you'll wake up to a pearl bonus for every extra 1,000 steps.
-
Spend it on something alive
Pearls buy fish and decorations. Streaks unlock new species — and the rarest three can't be bought at any price. You have to walk for them.
Consequences
A streak counter you can't ignore.
Most step apps reset a number and shrug. FinSteps has a tank full of things that were counting on you — which turns out to be a very different kind of reminder.
Goal met
The water runs clear
- Tank cleanliness climbs 25%
- Every living fish recovers a heart
- +10 pearls, paid the second you cross
- +1 pearl for every extra 1,000 steps, banked overnight
- Your streak ticks up, and badges start landing on day one
Goal missed
The tank clouds over
- Cleanliness drops and murk creeps across the glass
- Every fish loses a heart, from the very first missed day
- Your streak breaks — though unlocks you've earned stay earned
- Sustained neglect kills fish: about three straight misses for a fragile one
- You still collect a few effort pearls for the steps you did take
Your starter guppy can't die. It floors at one heart and waits for you. However bad a fortnight gets, there is always something alive in the tank to walk back to.
The roster
Twelve species. Three you can only earn.
Fish unlock on whichever comes first — a total of goal-met days, or a consecutive streak. A bad week slows you down; it never erases what you've already done. Hover a card to see it swim.

Streak badges
What a streak is actually worth.
The first three badges land in your first three days — the tank fills fast on purpose. After that they get further apart and a great deal more valuable.

The deal
One purchase. Nothing else, ever.
No ads, no pearl packs, nothing to buy inside the game. Pearls are earned by walking, full stop. Subscribe monthly or annually, with a free trial before either one asks for money, or pay once for lifetime access. That's the only money FinSteps ever asks for.
You'll see the price before you buy, in the App Store and in the app. Apple handles all billing and refunds. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel from iOS Settings; the lifetime purchase is charged once and never renews. Your aquarium stays on your device either way — lapsing doesn't delete a single fish. Full detail in the Terms of Use.
Private by design
Your steps never leave your iPhone.
Not a marketing line — an architecture. We run no backend for your steps to go to: your steps, your fish, and your history live in the app's own encrypted container on your device and nowhere else. The only thing that goes online is your subscription.
One data type
FinSteps requests read-only access to your step count from Apple Health. Nothing else, and it never writes back.
No account
No sign-up, no email, no password. Open the app and you're playing.
No tracking, no ads
No ad SDKs, no attribution, no data brokers — there's nobody to sell to. The only third party is RevenueCat, which runs the subscription.
Delete means delete
Removing the app removes every trace of your aquarium and step history — we never held a copy. The one thing kept off-device is your subscription record, and we'll erase that on request.
Questions
Before you download.
Does FinSteps send my step data anywhere?
No. Your steps, your health data and your aquarium never leave your iPhone. There are no accounts, no ads, and no servers of our own. The app only goes online to handle your subscription — payment through Apple, and subscription management through RevenueCat — and your step data is never part of that.
What happens if I miss a day?
Your streak resets, the tank loses cleanliness, and every fish loses a heart. You still earn a few effort pearls for the steps you did take, and the app gives you a fresh-start check-in rather than a bare "you lost your streak."
A fish only dies after several consecutive missed days — roughly three for a fragile one, more for a hardy one. Your starter guppy is protected and can never die.
Do I need an Apple Watch?
No. Your iPhone counts steps on its own using the built-in motion coprocessor, so the app works with the phone in your pocket. If you do wear an Apple Watch, Apple Health merges and de-duplicates the two counts automatically.
Can I change my daily step goal?
Yes. The default is 8,000 steps and you can set anything from 1,000 to 100,000 in Settings. Past days keep the goal that was in effect at the time, so raising your goal never retroactively breaks an old streak.
Can a fish die permanently?
Yes — but not without warning, and not without a way back. A dead fish rests in the Memorial for three days, and you can spend pearls to revive that exact fish: same name, same rare colour variant, same tenure, returned at half health. After three days it floats away for good.
How much does FinSteps cost?
Premium comes three ways: a monthly or annual subscription, each with a free trial so you can try the whole thing before you pay, or a one-time lifetime purchase if you'd rather pay once and be done. You'll see the price in the App Store and again in the app before you're charged. Nothing else is ever for sale — no ads, no pearl packs, no paid shortcuts. Pearls are earned by walking or not at all.
You can cancel a subscription any time from iOS Settings, and your aquarium stays on your device either way. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple — we never see your payment details. See the deal and the Terms of Use.
Which iPhones does it support?
Any iPhone running iOS 17 or later. FinSteps also ships a Home Screen widget that draws today's progress without you opening the app.
Does it work offline, or on a plane?
Completely. The game has no network dependency at all — the only time FinSteps talks to the internet is when you buy or restore premium access through Apple.
There's a tank waiting for you.
Hatch your first fish today. Try the whole thing free, and if it isn't for you, cancel before the trial ends and you're never charged — your aquarium stays on your phone either way.
